New Jersey Elk Reunion Prepares Grande Parade and Events
The first annual gathering of the New Jersey State Elks Association will be held in Long Branch on Tuesday and Wednesday with thousands of Elks and visitors expected. A large street parade is planned for Wednesday at 2 PM from Third Avenue to Ocean Avenue, with bands, floats, and over 30 judges. Municipal events include a banquet at Scarboro Hotel, an association meeting at the Elks Home, and a cabaret on the illuminated lawn.

Long Branch Firemen Win State Hose Laying Titles
Long Branch firemen returned from the Asbury Park parade with top honors. First Assistant Chief Edward J. Reid and Second Assistant James Ennis Jr led the unit as they captured state titles in horse-drawn hose laying and visiting-crew events. Oceanic No. 1 won the hook and ladder contest unopposed. The Branchport Hose Company set a 45 second quarter mile record.

Robbery at Red Bank Stolen Jewelry For Councilman Miller
Councilman Archibald L. Miller and Mrs Miller reported a burglary at their Riverside Avenue home. About 500 dollars in jewelry vanished including an antique brooch and two small diamonds. Entry came via broken front porch window and a moved table on the porch was noticed. Police found fingerprint clues on a shard of glass. The crime likely occurred Thursday night or Friday morning. Witness suggested an on-site worker who washed porches could have spotted the glass. First floor shows no disturbance. The thief appeared to target jewelry while leaving other valuables intact.

Martha Peterson Dies of Pneumonia at 20
Mrs. Martha Peterson, wife of Victor E. B. Peterson of 255 Rockwell Avenue, died at Monmouth Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was twenty years old, survived by her husband, infant daughter Marjorie, a brother, two sisters, and a sister-in-law. Funeral at her home Tuesday at two, Rev. William S. Reed officiating. interment Lenwood Cemetery. She studied at Chattle High and was active in local life.
