Two Plays Presented by St Luke's M K E School Members

The annual St Luke's M K E School entertainment drew a crowded house with two plays. Miss Jessie A Kelley’s Our Church Wait featured young women led by Grace L Hill and Nova M Hibner. GG M Bakers Shall Our Mothers Vote depicted a lively Excelsior Debating Club with Henry Brinley as President and Chester Dennis as Tom Slowboy.

Fire from Stopped Oil Stove at Red Bank Office

Early morning at 10 40 o clock an oil stove toppled by a boy at the Long Branch Record office caused burning oil to spill on the floor. Frank N Worth hurled the stove from the window and then battled flames with a coat. Papers ignited in a corner and passersby helped remove them. Fire companies arrived to find the blaze out. damage was slight. The building is owned by George Kuhl at the head of Broad street opposite the fountain.

Maddog Rampage Through City Ends With Fatal Shot

A starving hound roamed from Broadway to Third Avenue and Fifth Avenue, attacking pedestrians and dogs. Patrolman Harvey fired, killing the animal near Joline Avenue after a lengthy chase aided by Alfred C. Showler and others. Earlier, another dog belonging to Chris Hollywood was shot by police.

Thirty Injured by Fire Explosions in Grand Rapids

In Grand Rapids Michigan on November 29 a blaze at a tenement house injured thirty including firemen and spectators after explosions of gasoline dynamite and powder. Firefighters had removed over 40 residents and warned nearby tenants before additional blasts. The blaze caused extensive damage and a log estimated at 200 000 dollars caused travel notices for Train No 293 and a Long Branch departure schedule.

Jersey City girl dies in suspected strychnine poisoning

Miss Catherine Watts a 22 year old employee of a Manhattan Sixth Avenue department store died after a week of illness. Police and county officials delayed action for jurisdiction while an autopsy is demanded by her parents. Doctors suspected strychnine poisoning though a diphtheria diagnosis had been considered.

Bandits rob theater executive in Pelham Parkway hold up

Three masked bandits held up Cornelius Neremus president of Germania Life Insurance at a lonely Pelham Parkway site. Loot valued over $2,000. a young woman in the car, one of Neremus’s daughters, had rings torn from her fingers. Neremus, over 70, struck unconscious after a robber hit him.

Clues to Motorists in Engineer Hayden Hit Run

Samuel Hayden Jr a aged engineer of the Independent Fire Company was struck on Third Avenue near his home and taken to Monmouth Memorial Hospital by unidentified occupants of a car. He lies in a comatose state with no broken bones and a bruise over one eye. City detectives hold a clue likely to reveal the car’s identity, but the occupants have not disclosed themselves. Tools stolen from Oscar Miller shop spark arrest of John Cooper

A tool shop on North roadway reported thefts of tools brass fittings and lead with two mason suspects. John Cooper was arrested at City Hall on charges of taking and disposing of Miller tools. Cooper and another man allegedly sold items for 50 cents. Details on items and values vary but some pieces including a thread cutting tool were valued at 14 and lead at 16.
