Diplomatic Break Likely With Mexico Within 48 Hours

The United States may sever diplomatic relations with Mexico within 48 hours unless President Huerta accepts key American demands. State Department reports indicate withdrawal of American diplomats could occur without an immediate war, while Huerta’s responsiveness remains doubtful. Wilson planned to release a comprehensive statement on Mexican affairs later today, influenced by Hale and Carranza talks.

Pivot Auction at the Stevens Home Pink Party in Fatontown

A fashionable pink party held yesterday afternoon at Mrs. William R. Stevens home in Fatontown featured an eighteen-table pivot auction organized by Mrs. Stevens and her daughter Mrs. Harry Campbell. About twenty-five ladies attended. Day Newark catered. awards included Sheffield trays and French baskets awarded to a list of named attendees led by Mrs. Daniel H. Applegate and others from Red Bank, Fair Haven, Allenhurst, and Shrewsbury. The Swanee River Quartet, billed as a premier negro quartet, performs tonight at Oceanic High School in the second event of the People’s Popular course.

Sunday School Convention At Asbury Park Adopts Budget

More than one hundred attendees journeyed to Asbury Park for the New Jersey Sunday Schools fifty third convention. W A Brown of Chicago spoke on The Bible a book for Men at First Methodist Episcopal Church. Election of officers set a $7,500 budget. Edward W Dunham elected treasurer, Edward W Cooper president, Rev Samuel D Price secretary.

Rector's Wife Converts to Catholic Faith in New York

Mrs. John F. Milbank wife of the Freehold St. Peter's rector is at a New York Catholic institution studying to join the faith. Paulist Fathers confirmed the move and her husband traveled with their four daughters and one son to New York then returned. He later visited Mrs Milbank and would not say if he urged her to stay Anglican. The conversion caused a stir in Freehold where she had been a leading Episco pal church worker. The Milbanks moved from Danbury two years ago and their eldest daughter is set to graduate from Freehold High School next June.

Wedding arrest reveals Ooter’s sister in law tale

Bayshore Pound Men End Season

The pound fishermen at Port Monmouth Belford and Keansburg are through for this season. Most have removed their pound poles and twine after a disastrous year with weak bunkers and blues. Farm yields in New Jersey to be below earlier years

From advance reports by Secretary Franklin Dye of the State Board of Agriculture, yields per acre this year are expected to be lower than in several prior years. Despite poor conditions, total farm output should reach at least 60 million dollars, with poultry and egg products possibly setting a record over 50 million.

Abram Gettleson proprietor and James Lane were badly cut when a Ford delivery car was struck by a train near Monmouth Beach crossing at Riverdale Avenue. The driver accelerated to avoid a broadside impact. both men were treated at Monmouth Memorial Hospital. The windshield break likely caused their injuries. car sustained minor damage.

Three Near Death in Engine's Pat C

Captain Pearce and Mrs Hartley Pearer and Miss Tyson narrowly escaped death when their car crashed through eastern gates and stalled on the New York and Long Branch tracks. Pearce drove through western gates to avoid a collision as an engine advanced, shattering the windshield and leaving the car badly damaged. The party, returning from Como, went home to Brielle with only minor injuries.

Parts Stolen From Auto In Garage

Parts were removed from a Pope Hartford car in Schmidt's garage Academy alley yesterday afternoon. The Prestolite tank and the magneto were taken after intruders pried open the rear doors. Detective Captain Walling examined the scene and noted the details, with a clue to the robber but no developments expected soon.

Mrs Catheryne Slocum Dies in New York Home

Mrs Catheryne Slocum widow of Henry Slocum longtime city resident died at the Home for the Incurables New York Monday aged 83. She lived in the Buck Ingham Hotel Asbury Park before leaving for New York. Funeral plans include viewing in Asbury Park 4 to 8 p m at James H Sexton Parlors 159 Main Street. Piper Trolley Suit On Today

The suit of William H. Piper for five thousand dollars against Monmouth County Electric Company is heard today before Judge Nelson Y. Dungan at Freehold. Damages claim injuries to Piper and damage to his automobile after it was struck by a trolley car on Ninth Avenue April 26. Piper is represented by William J. Minards. the defendant hires McDermott and Enright of Jersey City.

Grand Jury Delivers Prompt Trial for Red Bank Offense

Four men involved in a disturbance on a Red Bank trolley car were charged and promptly tried. The court sentenced them to between 114 and 3 years in state prison, reflecting the severity of the acts and the jury's speedy process.
