Taft and Roosevelt split counties in New Jersey vote

In Monmouth Middlesex and Ocean counties Taft delegates lead by small margins while Roosevelt gains dominate in other districts. Scully and Sticum sweep Congressional Democratic delegates. Wilson carries Neptune and Freehold areas with heavy margins. Death notices and local ads appear amid the political tally and civic notices.

Summer cottagers flocking to Cedar and Ocean avenues

A parade of well known cottagers arrived for the season with many more expected from New York. Names include Oppenheimer on Cedar avenue Levy on Cedar avenue Ernstein at Guggenheim cottage near Takanassee Lake Untermeyer on Westwood avenue Arnstein at Ocean avenue Cohen at Cedar avenue Dreyfus to Deal Nathan at Ocean avenue Lewisohn at Elkwood Park Baruch at The Anchorage Atlantic Avenue Seligman cottage ready Goldsmith family arriving Friday Nor Dell back from Washington with Mrs Baker noting their Chelsea avenue cottage and pleasant news from the doctor in the capital.

Red Bank Primary Yields Taft Best Roosevelt Votes

Apathy marked Red Bank's first presidential primary with 868 votes cast from 1,600 registered voters. Taft led Roosevelt in the seven districts, 259 to 195, while Wilson drew 18 and La Follette 19. Sixty-one ballots were rejected.

New Jersey Primaries Result in Delegates and Votes

Floonevelt captures 28 delegates with about a 30 000 lead over Taft. Wilson wins nearly all districts except Essex, missing that county by a small margin. Taft loses 12 congressional districts. La Follette's share is nominal while overall Republican vote falls to about half of last election.

Roosevelt Wilson Victors In New Jersey Presidential Primary

In New Jersey Colonel Theodore Roosevelt and Governor Woodrow Wilson won the presidential primaries. Roosevelt appears to capture all 28 state delegates with about 30 000 plurality, beating Taft more than in Ohio Pennsylvania or Illinois. Wilson pinned down Democratic delegates with Essex county showing strong anti Smith Nugent activity. statewide results indicate Wilson delegates at large and district delegates won in all but two districts.

Formation of Long Branch Trade Organization Established

The Long Branch Business Men's Association met at Gifford Lacour Cranmer to organize a city business and professional group. A constitution and by laws were adopted, officers listed, and the aim to improve trade and credit conditions outlined. A local credit guide will publish names and habits of paying for individuals and firms in Monmouth and surrounding counties.

Red Bank Elks Plan First Annual Ball Tonight

Red Bank Lodge No. 233 B P O Elks hosts its first annual ball at Second Troop Armory Monmouth Street tonight with Harold A Dennett orchestra and Imperial Mandolin Troubadours providing music. Tickets sold, intermission at midnight with luncheon. Open afternoon and evening with matinees at 3 30 and 7 16, admission 10 cents, children 5 cents at matinees.

Two city appointments filled at morning meeting

City commissioners elected Theodore A. Cranmer as building inspector and reappointed R. Horace Curtis as overseer of the poor. New salaries were set, and health board officers were chosen as the meeting adjourned. Governor Woodrow Wilson led in a large local primary, with Taft Roosevelt close behind.

Memorial Day activities include graves decoration by G A Ed ye and Sons of Veterans at 9 A M. with 2 P M addresses by Rev Dr John G Lovell at City Hall. The Weather Bureau forecasts 86 hours of showers this afternoon and tonight for New Jersey with cooler conditions in the north and west. Thursday should be cooler and generally fair with southwest winds shifting to northwest. Observations show a 63 degree temperature at 8 am, 63 cross 24 hour change minus 2, barometer 29.83, humidity around 90 percent at 8 am and 82 percent at 10 am, wind south at 24 miles per hour and a peak 44 miles in the past day.
