Philathea Society Red Bank Banquet Honors Members

The Philathea Society of the First Baptist Church Red Bank held its fourth annual banquet at the Garrison House on Broadstreet. Miss Florence M. Bainton presided, Mrs Myron Slater led prayers, and Miss Herbert Gittings of Matawan entertained with humorous selections. Attendees included numerous members and officers, with a committee led by Mrs George Bray.

Mrs. William Nestor of Lakewood, a former Red Bank resident, visits Frank Saguerton on Leonard Street. She last spent significant time in Red Bank decades ago and recalls travel via Newark in 1887. Three Presidential Candidates Whirl Through Jersey

In Monmouth County Senator Robert M. La Follette led a campaign swing with lunch in Asbury Park and a speech at the Savoy Theatre after arriving by auto from Lakewood. The Wisconsin Republican, opposing Taft and Roosevelt, spoke of Sherman law enforcement and rising prices, then moved on to Red Bank. Taft opened his New Jersey day in Flemington, while Roosevelt toured from the north with a large retinue.

Beneficiary Casino Event Draws Local Notables

A benefit evening for St. Michael's Church at the Norwood Casino drew a large crowd from Long Branch and Asbury Park. A handsome sum was realized and many costly items were distributed. Red Bank Sociable for Youths at First Methodist Church

About sixty young people from the First Methodist Church Red Bank attended a sociable at the parsonage on Monmouth Street last night. The gathering aimed to help the group meet the pastor’s family led by Rev. Percy Perinchief. The evening featured games socializing piano solos by Miss Verna Delanish and refreshments served at a reasonable hour.

Historians to Meet at Monmouth County Assoc Meeting

Collier Makes First Flight in Hydro-Aeroplane

Robert Collier, president of the Aero Club of America, piloted his hydro-aeroplane for seventeen minutes at Seidler's Beach near South Amboy guided by Walter Brookins. The journey ended with a greeting from his wife and friends as Mrs. Collier and Mary Boyd accompanied Brookins on several passenger flights. Seidler's Beach is cited as America’s first official hydro-aeroplane station.

Small Fire at Red Bank Damages Porch

Firemen were alerted just after noon to a blaze near Branch avenue and Tower Hill avenue. Hot ashes dumped in an ash barrel near Attorney Warren H. Smock's porch ignited the house side, but neighbors and buckets of water stopped the flames before the fire company arrived.
