Giant Sturgeon Caught by Galilee Fishermen

Jesse Cook and Co. captured a 250 pound sturgeon at Galilee last Saturday morning. The enormous fish required team effort to haul aboard and contained over seventy pounds of roe sent to New York for caviar. Caviar prices boosted the haul, recalling earlier days of profitable sturgeon roe curing by Capt. Nelson Lockwood.

Long Branch Men Linked to Horse Theft Ring in Red Bank Case

Rosenberg Jacob Spivock and Joseph Waldman of Long Branch face charges in a widening horse theft and burglary investigation. Detectives recovered goods valued over $1,000 from Rosenberg’s Norwood Avenue warehouse and tied stolen items to local victims including Daniel Doran of Norwood Avenue. Bail amounts were set or raised as the case moved to grand jury action in Red Bank.

Widow Susan Hulick of West Long Branch Dies at 83
