Long Branch prepares for the season opening at Baseball Park as the 1913 pennant is unfurled with a band and parade. Mayor Newcomb will throw the first ball and the Cuban aggregation from Newark is expected to be a top contender in the Atlantic League. Bishop Griswold Possible Next NJ Bishopric Talk

May 19 Trenton Bishop Brent of the Philippines declined the New Jersey bishopric. Kansas Bishop Griswold may be chosen at the convention in September or October with Archdeacon Shephard taking charge meanwhile. Brent previously declined Washington and later led the Philippines after election.

Red Bank Borough council discussed unsanitary cells in Borough hall and water leakage damaging papers and ballot boxes kept in vaults. The issue was referred to the police committee for strict inspection and action. The council approved laying sewer along Chestnut Street and funding water pipe installation on Bergen Place and Bridge Avenue. Highlands reports busy building activity with Greenspan Brothers adding a confectionery and barber shop at Valley avenue and Fourth street. Protective Tariff League to perfect organization

The Lincoln Protective Tariff League will hold its second meeting at Allenhurst Borough Hall on Hume Street near Main tomorrow evening to establish a permanent organization and elect National Trustees to appoint officers. Dues are one dollar annually. The Allenhurst Band will entertain. The organization committee includes Thomas Cochran chair, Charles K. Savage secretary, Benjamin B. Smith counsel.

Third Crossing Victim Sinking in Camden Tragedy

Camden reports two killed and five injured when a West Jersey and Seashore train struck an automobile driven by Mrs. Mary Myers. She is sinking rapidly. Another victim, John Gradwell, 60, of Wakefield, was killed after being crushed under a freight car when the engine rammed a train.

Fire at Ocean Grove Destroys Top Floor Home

A blaze at the residence of T. J. Clayton at 75 Main Avenue Ocean Grove broke out shortly after noon. The top of the house was gutted and damage is estimated at 2500 dollars. Neighbors carried out much of the furniture and saved valuable paintings. Cause unknown. Mr Clayton is father of Ocean Grove postmaster Clayton.

Port Monmouth Boy Injured by Frightened Horse

Wilbur Willett nine-year-old son of Mr and Mrs William H Willett Harmagny Avenue Port Monmouth was injured when a horse owned by Mrs Lourea Palmer frightened by an approaching train leaped forward. A steel shoe cut a deep gash in his scalp as he fell under the horse's feet. He was treated at the Donovan residence then by Dr James D Siledx of Keyport and was improving.
