Monmouth Memorial Hospital Nurses Class Receives Reception

Fifteenth commencement exercises for Monmouth Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses concluded with a reception for the class of 1912 at the Nurses Home. Guests filled the room to enjoy dancing with music by Prof. J Pitan West and Prof. Rudolph Malchow of Red Bank, followed by a late repast. Former graduates joined the celebration, and attendees lingered past midnight.

Injured by a Fall at Mead Store

John Nastasia, a Norwood avenue grocer, was seriously hurt after tripping on stairs at a Mead store. He landed on the floor, injuring his left ankle and left side. Dr Slocum ordered bed rest and bandaging. Nastasia remained distressed by the shock and pain at noon.

Red Hot Hearing on Extradition of Meat Trust Heads

The May 18 hearing before Governor Wilson debated extradition from Illinois of J Ogden Armour Edward Morris and beef magnates tied to the National Packing Company. Prosecutor Garven urged return on a Hudson County grand jury indictment charging conspiracy to restrain trade and control meat prices. Wilson pressed Garven on why a second application after Fort’s earlier denial. Garven said he would pursue the case to bring defendants to trial. Fort’s view he opposed as misjudged.

Death of F W Marthens Former Water Witch Resident

Frederick W Marthens 74 9 died yesterday at his brother George Marthens Oceanic home after seven weeks illness from Brights disease. He lived in Water Witch near Atlantic Highlands two years. Survived by brother in New York State two sons in Water Witch and Brooklyn and a daughter in Georgia. Three hundred admirers of Theodore Roosevelt form the Long Branch Roosevelt Club to back his Presidential nomination. Charles C. McFaddin is temporary chair, W Asher Stevens vice president, and headquarters will be in the Brent Good building. A Roosevelt reception is planned for next Saturday morning. Engagement announced between Miss Worth May King of Asbury Park and William Edwin Minter of the city. A new pastor arrives next month Rev J W Biekink to lead First Reformed Church. Fair Haven Man Fined for Offal Through Borough Streets

John Reevey of Fair Haven was arrested on a warrant issued by Red Bank health officials for dumping empty luggages pools and offal in the borough without a permit. He pled guilty before Recorder Harry C. Badeau, paid a ten dollar fine and costs, and was released.

Treble Clef Club Shines With Garden of Flowers Cantata

The Treble Clef Club of Chattle High School performed with the High School orchestra under Miss B Louise Brueke in a two part program at the Grammar School auditorium. The first part featured school orchestra selections and club choruses followed by the cantata The Garden of Flowers by Denza with a duet trio and two solos. Soloists Alma Van Hise and Rove Hodgkinson impressed in Lively Rosebuds and O Happy Streamlet. The High School orchestra under Catherine Sweeney and Miriam Morris provided notable encore worthy numbers.
