Floyd Allen of the outlaw gang that killed five at the Hillsville courthouse on March 14 must pay the death penalty. The jury returned the verdict after a long deliberation with Allen calmly receiving the sentence as his wife cried and the crowd reacted. The execution is to be carried out in the electric chair after trials for the other men.
