Shrewsbury Woman Adelaide Meert Dies in Brussels

Mrs Adelaide Mott Meert widow of C Fritz Meert a New York importer died May 13 in Brussels where she had lived nearly four years. She was granddaughter of Dr Valentine Mott and sister of Mrs G N Meer and mother of W Louise Meer William H Meert and Victor E Meert. William will bring her body home later this month. She aided local Reading clubs and loan exhibition efforts and was noted for modesty and ability.

Asbury Sewer Election Ratified by Landslide Turnout

The Asbury Park sewer bond measure of 76 thousand dollars was approved Tuesday by a 2 to 1 margin with only about 10 percent of registered voters participating. Districts mostly favored the issue, except the two Springwood Avenue districts where a negative majority appeared.

Nine Boys Arrested For Red Bank Robberies

Nine Red Bank boys aged eight to fourteen faced Recorder Harry C. Badeau on grand larceny charges for breaking into five borough locations. The ring leader Huff, paroled from reform school, and others faced $100 bail. Victims included Brower Sisters Fruit Kitchen and nearby properties. at least $50 damage and a $25 bicycle were stolen. Chief Wymbs led the police, tracking the youths after a previous spree.

Meeting of City Commission Addresses Public Works Plans

The city commission met with all members present and discussed requests to erect ornamental iron posts for a white way on Broadway and illuminated arches. Applications for city engineer were referred to departments, and a license issue from A and P Tea Co. was sent to the solicitor for opinion. The U S Weather Bureau calls for rain tonight and Friday with cloudy skies and variable winds in New Jersey. A small craft warning is issued with brisk east to south winds this afternoon and tonight. Mrs Susan Vail dies at 90 in Red Bank

Susan F Vail a longtime Red Bank resident died yesterday afternoon aged about 90 from infirmities of old age. She lived with her granddaughter Mrs Henry Wood at Rector Place and leaves a daughter in New York. Funeral set Saturday at 2 pm at the Wood home Rev Percy Perinchief officiating. The Republican headquarters in Broad Street Red Bank hosts a large Roosevelt for President meeting with Edward Osborn of Newark as chief speaker. About 200 Roosevelt supporters are expected with over one hundred league members signing the notice.
