Aged man commits death by own action near Shrewsbury
John C. Cooper a 73 year old farm hand discharged from Martin Kearney Shrewsbury died from an overdose of laudanum in a barn behind Joseph Tomlinson s hotel at Lin croft. Damages Sought in Freehold Railroad Crash Case
J Stromanger and William Wolfson sue Central Railroad of New Jersey in the Freehold common pleas court seeking 20000 for injuries from a Long Branch stage collision at the Broad Way crossing. Stromanger, an Asbury Park former resident, was injured when a Central train struck the stage, killing the horse and causing severe wounds and hospital confinement. He earned five dollars daily as a carpenter and remained 70 days at Monmouth Memorial Hospital with a week of unconsciousness.

Burglar Shot At In North Long Branch Neighborhood
At Ocean avenue near the Davis coal yard a man loitering on Lester Van Brunt’s stoop prompted him to fire a pistol at a suspected burglar. The intruder fled toward the railroad depot after a first shot and a second shot was fired to halt him. No suspect was found as residents and a life saving service patrol aided in the search. No police were on duty and locals protest for better protection.

Belmar Resident Fatally Crushed Between Cars at Atlantic Coast Barn
John Perry, 30, a Belmar night watchman, died after being pinned between two trolley cars at the Alles hurst barn of the Atlantic Coast Electric Railroad near Spring Lake.
