Encampment Plans for Grand Army Post Highlight Meeting

Plans for the forty-fifth annual encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic are outlined. Committees led by B. Fon and W. D. will arrange publicity decorations and visitor reception at Scarboro Hotel and Scarboro Casino with Governor Fort expected to address state officers. First President Presided Board of Trade Session

Dr. George H. Baker, first president of the Trade, attended the meeting last night and presided in place of absent Stratton. E R Smock relinquished the post to Baker after serving as second vice president. Thirty members present as committees reported and Thomas Mélanie was elected to membership. Borough council notes mention township affairs and a check payment tied to restructuring after Long Branch split from Hatontown.

Knights of Columbus Convention Opens in Red Bank and Nearby

Long Branch Cycle Club Holds Open Race Meet

The Long Branch Cycle Club, one of the city’s newer groups, plans a morning race program starting at ten o’clock with open events for clubs. Races include ½ mile 1 mile 4 mile and 1 ½ mile plus a two mile and 1 ½ mile dash with a slow race closing. Mayor McFardin grants road use and police protection. Charles E Morris presented the club to the Board of Trade seeking cooperation and a small trophy. the matter was referred to the managements committee.

Kingfish Caught in Local Pounds by Two Captains

Captain Nelson Lockwood at Gali lee and L G Nesbitt of Ben Girt reported catching kingfish in their pounds this morning. Lockwood landed about forty pounds of kingfish and the pound also yielded seabass and butterfish. Nesbitt caught a smaller portion. Some specimens were landed with hook and line from shore.

Lead pipe thieves strike Daly Cottage in New York

Report of Dalys Cottage at the corner of Grenses and icts under attack by thieves who pried open a winter closed building. They removed lead pipes and bath fittings, damaged plumbing, and even stole brass knobs while a nearby barn faced stone-throwing by local youths. Police expect arrests.

Errickson, 60, longtime Monmouth Beach stable master, died after a runaway horse incident near Highlands. Coroner Flock towed his body to Hyer Flock undertaking. He lived on River Avenue with his wife and three children, survived by siblings John Errickson of Elizabeth, Joseph Errickson of Linda, and Mrs. Margaret Cannon of Asbury Park.
