120 Horses Burned in Stable Fire at Roxbury
In Roxbury Mays May 8 a lunch room kettle fire started by fat caused a blaze at Frank Igzo stable. George Engman, a stable worker for H D Cook, was burned and killed, 120 horses perished, and ten buildings damaged with losses around 100000. About 400 men attended the smoker of the Holy Name Society at the St James R C Church clubhouse in Red Bank. Thomas Fay of Long Branch spoke on society aims. Rev James Reynolds urged participation. Junior Holy Name Boy Scouts staged a play No Peddler Wanted Here as emcee acts entertained along with Frosini on accordion and Carson Brothers acrobatics. A gold watch and a $10 gold piece were raised for scouts and the senior society. Parish marshal elections were set for Sundays parade. Muay Day will be first in NJ with a large parish procession drawing several thousand attendees.

Fair Haven man found shot dead. Reevey held for murder
William Brown of Fair Haven was found dead at home from a bullet wound to the left breast. Coroner Dr. Fay and physicians ruled an inward wound caused by a .32 caliber bullet. Alfonzo Reevey, brother of Brown's sister in law, was arrested for murder and jailed without bail awaiting grand jury action. Hartson P. Cook formerly of Long Branch Eatontown and Matontown died at his daughter's Asbury Park home at nine this morning in his sixty fourth year after three months with Brights disease. Survived by wife Susan Coleman and four children, funeral Saturday at 2 from daughter Mrs. H J Denegar's home with burial at Green Town Cemetery. He lived in Eatontown eighteen years ago moved to Long Branch then Asbury Park. He was a Crescent Council No 1 Jr O U A M member.
