Mayor Cook Dies At Red Bank In Sixth Year

Red Bank mourns as Mayor Horace P Cook dies at five in the morning after five weeks illness. Robert M Hurley becomes acting mayor while council elects a successor. Sunday School Institute Draws Ocean Township Workers

About 200 workers from 18 Ocean township schools attended a Monmouth County Sunday School Association institute at St. Luke's M E Church in New City. Prof. J W Burgess shared state level insights while Rev O B Close spoke on temperance for the anti saloon league. The program included music by a junior choir and a supper organized by the Ladies Aid Society.

Brent Bishop Elected as Episcopal Bishop of New Jersey

Bishop Charles H. Brent of the Philippines was elected unanimously yesterday to succeed the late Bishop John Scarborough as Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. A cable was sent to Manila for his acceptance. Brent, president of the International Opium Commission, has declined prior bishoprics and faced rumors he would refuse this assignment. He is known for advocacy of monastic orders and for his steerage voyage remarks praising ordinary passengers.

Boys Band Delights Audiences On Broadway Night

The Doys' Hand band, led by Daniel Edwards, performed on Broadway and Norwood Avenue at the Chattle Fountain. Forty four members exist, thirty six attended, with two marches and one overture played, the overture praised for its difficulty. Edwards hopes for future growth and calls this group the best yet.

Hotel Robbers Caught Redhanded In Atlantic Hotel Heist

Simon Glaser owner of the Atlantic Hotel reports a Tuesday morning break in from a rear store room adjoining the cafe. Detectives traced the theft to Monmouth Beach where two Russians, Alexander Riskie and Michael Spatush, were found with most of the stolen intoxicants. Both suspects held for grand jury. goods valued at $75 recovered from their apartment.
