Art Exhibition Opens at School
The A. W. Elson Co. of Boston loaned art for display in the Grammar School Auditorium starting this afternoon at 2:30. Two hundred pictures including carbon photographs photogravures sculpture and painting will be shown for the rest of the week. Admission is small and proceeds fund room beautification. Daily programs feature student performers and recitations from local pupils.

Fishermen Net Large Haul in Belford Waters
About 2 500 bushels of menhaden were caught by Belford fishermen Tuesday morning. E H Jones led with 268 bushels and George C Henry had 248. Local Man Arrested in Horse Theft Case From Years Ago
County Detective Elwood Miaugh of Red Bank arrested John York in Atlantic Highlands on a grand larceny indictment dating back over two years. York, visiting his brother Thomas York, was taken to the county jail after a tip from Chief Snedeker. The case ties to a stolen black horse from funeral director John G Sexton’s Broadway stable, with York believed to be part of a larger gang involved in Middletown township horse thefts. York’s capture follows prior efforts including a stormy Port Monmouth pursuit with Detective Walling. officials expect the gang to be broken up.

Lamp causes house fire on Liberty Street
A lamp left burning on a bureau near a clothes closet exploded and showered flames through the Liberty Street two story frame dwelling of Mr and Mrs John Hayes injuring attic rafters and much of the second floor. Neighbors saved lower floor furniture before firemen arrived. The blaze, which started while Hayes was away at work, destroyed the roof and bureau. The building owned by Charles Bennett of New York with local agent Anthony T Woolley, is insured.
