Belford man held on charge of attempted self harm on moving train

Charles Kraft of Belford was committed to county jail awaiting grand jury action on a charge of attempted death by his own action after his wife alleged he tried to jump from a moving train near Marlboro to Freehold. He was arraigned in Middletown and held without bail.

Railroad Land Beautified Near Lincoln Avenue

The New York and Long Branch Railroad adjacent land north of Lincoln Avenue and near Lincoln Place was graded and top soil laid. Shrubbery and a hedge were planted, the area seeded, and the once deserted plot will be more attractive when grass grows.

Official but incomplete returns from Massachusetts presidential primary show 86 votes split evenly between Roosevelt and Taft. Taft leads in nine congressional districts to Roosevelt five, while eight Roosevelt at large delegates hold a substantial margin. Boston backed Taft by over 500, but Taft trails in several towns and wards.

Waters Arrested In Asbury Park Assault Case And Murder Claim

George Waters of Asbury Park was arrested on a warrant issued the day of the murder of Althea Baukwright, aged 16, who died after giving birth to a child Waters reportedly fathered. His common law wife Florence Murray Waters was sentenced to 12 to 40 years for the murder. Waters appeared before Justice Huttek, held without bail, with bail to be fixed later.
