Benjamin Sok of Fourth Avenue was knocked from his wagon seat when a touring car owned by A Klopper of Asbury Park tried to pass between the wagon and an oncoming horse. Husband shoots wife over refused money in Abottsford home
Rebecca Pulley, a Black woman from Abbottsford Avenue, lies dying at Monmouth Memorial Hospital from a gunshot wound inflicted by her husband Henry Pulley who was drunk. The confrontation followed a rent dispute as the couple argued and he fired the revolver after a struggle, wounding her in the left side near the breast and through the liver. Public Service Takes Over Shore Lighting Firms
The Public Service Corporation, with Board approval, has merged the Shore Lighting Company and leased its gas business to Public Service Gas Company and its electric business to Public Service Electric Company. The merger adds five communities to its service, with gas in South Amboy and electricity in Red Bank Rumson Shrewsbury township Middletown and Sea Bright. The Shore Lighting Company combined Citizens Light and Fuel of South Amboy Shore Electric of Red Bank and Sea Bright Electric. The Fidelity Trust Company arranged the consolidation as estate manager for Philip N. Jackson, whose interests prompted the move. Control began April 1 and leases take effect today.
