Trackwalker finds man dead near Matawan Cliffwood tracks
A New York & Long Branch Railroad trackwalker found a severely injured man along the Matawan to Cliffwood rails about 6 45 am. The victim, about 45, with a severed right leg and extensive bruising, died before a doctor arrived. Coroner Fay deemed an inquest unnecessary. The body, unidentifiable after clothing inspection, was sent to Arrowsmith Bros morgue in Matawan and may be interred in Matawan cemetery if not identified by Wednesday. A Perth Amboy paper found in his pocket suggests possible last location. The man appeared to be about 5 feet 10 inches, heavy build, black turning gray hair, brown eyes, and wore underclothes, overalls, and a jumper.
