Work began on Third Avenue site with Samuel Smock of Oceanport supervising. Frost and tree roots hinder progress as crews dig to seven feet depth, removing 1200 to 1500 cubic feet of soil. ten teams expected soon.
J A Howland of Sea Bright finishes a 450 foot bulkhead in front of the Peninsula Hotel with two turns. It withstood a recent storm with no braces. Work led by his son Edward. Nesbitt appointed inspector for the Fishery bulkhead project.
Prof Frederick K Ball opened his sixth annual recital series at his Norwood Avenue studio with Wagnerian music drama focusing on Tannhauser. Miss B Louise Bruske and a male quartet performed arias, excerpts, and projected scenes as the audience heard the complete overture and key themes. The program continues March 16 Tristan and March 28 Parsifal with a double male quartet on March 30 and April 1 for The Feast of the Holy Grail.
The Publicity Bureau at Asbury Park, led for seven years by H. B. Denegar, was thoroughly investigated by the Asbury Park Common Council. The council’s unanimous verdict vindicated Denegar and the bureau and praised the effort. Denegar was reappointed for two years. Also noted is a lack of quorum in Monmouth Beach council and a brief card of thanks from Mrs. Howard Maps and family to Dr Lovell and friends.
