Ultimatum sent to Chief Carranza demands use of railroads and ammunition or risk an independent movement. Villa and his forces retreat toward Torreon and threaten to act without Carranza approval if terms are not met.
In Juarez on June 29 General Villa and Carranza tensions surged as Villa withdrew his 17 000 troops from Zacatecas and sent an ultimatum demanding full ammunition and rail access. Carranza moves toward Nuevo Laredo as mediation in Niagara Falls notes a possible delay in final talks.
The Monmouth Beach News plans its first appearance on Thursday with editor and publisher L Rodney Berg at the helm. Berg is a local real estate man with property holdings in the borough.
Charles Anderson a clock inspector for the Western Union Telegraph Co was electrocuted Saturday morning at Elizabethport after contact with a live trolley wire. Rand was hurled from a pole and landed on his head sustaining a fractured skull. A well known telephone employee, he recently visited Slocum place with Mr and Mrs Joseph P Quick.
Dorothy Louise McCabe seven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas E McCabe died Saturday morning after illness of pneumonia. The remains were taken to New York Saturday afternoon for interment at St Michael's Cemetery Long Island. Funeral Director Wm H Morris Jr oversaw local arrangements.
In Deal New Jersey the first state recall election upheld Mayor William A. Levy by 84 to 46 over challenger Charles Fritz. Voters rejected a Progressive measure to cut borough commissioners from five to three, preserving the existing five member board. Reuben plans to sue Fritz for false arrest over ballot casting, with a hearing set before Justice Schoenlein. Levy celebrated with supporters at the Deal Inn.
Under marshal law police intensified a wide search for suspects in the assassination plot against Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. Several arrests, including women, were reported as the royal couple's remains were embalmed and likely sent to Vienna for funeral services. Emperor Franz Joseph, aged 84, arrived in Vienna seeking to recover from the shock and heat, with his wife, son, and brother among the victims. Archduke Charles is named as successor.
Albert Danielson Charles Perry Harry Warrelman Joseph F P Peacock George Matthews and Frank Beller appeared before Recorder Arrowsmith on a charge of disorderly conduct. They were arrested at the New York and New Jersey Railroad station by Officer Vetter on a complaint by Samuel Music the hack driver. They were discharged with a reprimand.
Tuberculosis claims Martin Ryan aged 49 at his stepfather Charles Breseh's home near Everett. Funeral Wednesday at St Catherine's Church, interment at Olivet cemetery. Also Mrs Cora Forbush widow of Henry Forbush of New York and Mrs Sarah Eli Sandoz of Long Branch died in New York June 11th, interment at Rose Dale Cemetery Linden. Special Ladies Auxiliary Pirandhport Hose meeting tonight.
Mr and Mrs Harry Patterson of Washington Street Red Bank celebrate their first wedding anniversary. They wed a year ago at the First Methodist Church Red Bank by Reverend Monroe Van Sant. Mrs Patterson formerly Miss Millie Lucas. Mr Patterson works for Metropolitan Insurance Company.
The Board of Health elected R Clifford Errickson as assistant to Health Officer Hall with a $45 monthly salary starting immediately. The body planned mosquito control, fly extermination, and sanitation measures including closing polluted wells and stopping waste dumping on Brighton avenue.
Judge Arthur Tuttle upheld the constitutionality of the new federal income tax law in a Detroit district court ruling. The decision, the first court ruling on the act, came as manufacturers John Horace and BE Dodge contested its validity. An appeal will be taken to the United States Supreme Court.
Pupil performers led by Mrs G A Parslow with a male quartet and Syracuse University pupil Miss Dorothy W Doran present at St Luke's M G Church tonight for a Sunday school benefit concert. Twenty two numbers on the program with no admission but a silver offering.
Captain of Lifesavers directed the event via megaphone as a 40 foot motorboat Cele owned by Charles S Raeder of the Columbia Yacht Club faced peril off Monmouth Beach. Raeder and two friends were saved after the anchor was dropped to ride out high seas. the craft grounded on the beach and was reported insured with no injuries.
A driver named George Gower was apprehended by cycle officer Swanson for performing gymkhana stunts with his car on the boardwalk between Chelsea and Moris avenues. He posted $25 bail for his appearance in Recorder's Court but failed to answer when his name was called, and the cognizance was forfeited.
John Sheehan former Red Bank commissioner was apprehended Saturday afternoon for disobeying traffic regulations at Monmouth and Broad street. He appeared before Hecordes Nadeau, officer Harry VanNote, and received a reprimand. A Fr Jones was seized for using a New York license beyond the fifteen day limit, then obtained New Jersey numbers after the hearing and went to a garage.
Emma Robinson was arrested after midnight by Patrolman Edwards for loitering intoxication and indecent language. In Recorder Arrowsmiths court she remembered drinking but denied resisting. a sixty day sentence was imposed to ensure future cooperation with county officials. She fought the officer, tore his shield, bit aides, and rode to the lockup after four men subdued her.
Oscar Carren chauffeur for Misa J. Vander of New York was arrested at Red Bank after a dispute over visits to a hotel bar. He faced a judge and await grand jury action on malicious mischief charges tied to removing a magneto wire and a car encounter with a local dealer.
The New York and Long Branch Railroad issued its summer schedule with 84 weekday northbound trains 85 Sunday northbound 86 weekday southbound and 86 Sunday southbound totaling 240 trips. The Anchor liner California ran aground off Tory Island County Donegal in dense fog. All 1016 passengers were rescued by British warships with no deaths reported. The forward section stove in, but officials hope to float and move the ship to Glasgow for repairs. Captain Coverley and crew remained aboard as torpedo boats held by. The Cassandra reached the stricken liner first. The vessel was en route from New York to Glasgow.
Leon Hicks and Beatrice Cook were married at the Star of the Sea Church by Rev. Wm. P. Cantwell. The ceremony was witnessed by Mrs. John Hicks and Miss Nellie Mack. Hicks plans to start housekeeping soon and notes his twenty fifth birthday will arrive December 17.

A mattress fire was reported at the home of David Isaacson on Fire Avenue. Firemen responding to the call found the mattress fire contained and directed away from the street with no further details available on damage or cause.
Patrick Moran faces ten days in county jail after arrest on a petty charge. Harvey is tied to a claim by William Jones and was taken into custody Saturday afternoon by cyclic officer McGarvey. Hensen, described as colored, is held on a ten dollar bond to maintain peace.
