All-Star Vaudeville Night Aids Charity in Lyceum Show

Volunteers join the Lyceum charity vaudeville lineup with over twenty acts, led by Julian Hilinge in impersonations. Boxes will act as ushers and souvenir programs. Auto Wreck On Ocean Ave Leaves Three Near Death

A high speed runabout carrying Charles Schwartz and Miss Ida Staman was struck from behind by a touring car from Asbury Park near the Atlantic Hotel on Ocean Avenue. The runabout was demolished. Staman suffered ankle and leg injuries, while Schwartz escaped serious harm. Four men in the other car fled. Harold Van Wickle was found unconscious and bleeding, taken to the Atlantic Hotel and later detained for a hearing at City Hall.

Red Bank man fined for horse cruelty in court

In Judge Corn's court Frank Brasch of Red Bank was fined $100 and costs after witnesses testified to horse abuse with a club. Monmouth County SPCA agent Joseph R West filed the case, with George Turner representing the society. Brasch did not appear in court. The judge called the case the worst animal cruelty he had seen.

Bandit Robbery and Shootings Shake City Center

In a morning robbery, wealthy shoe manufacturer Thomas Landregan and police officer Thomas H. Carroll were killed after bandits seized a five thousand dollar valise on the way to a shoe factory. A running gun battle left Lan dergat and Abe Acheson dead, Bill Karwanski wounded and captured, and one bandit at large. The incident occurred amid crowded streets as police fired on the attackers.

Eighty Three Nurses From Monmouth Training School

The Monmouth Memorial Training School in Long Branch reports eighty three nurses will graduate this year. The 1909 annual shows seventy five graduates active. eight in the 1911 class, the thirteenth. Commencement Thursday at the Lyceum theatre features solos, a charge to the nurses, diplomas, and presentations by Dr. Sternberger and Mrs. Parker, with Rev Rogan giving the benediction.
