That Village Barber Shop
An evocative reminiscence of Clarkie Parker’s Ly coeur Hall barber shop. The narrator recalls bay rum scents, a single green chair, spittoons, a walnut cabinet, and mugs bearing local names, including the narrator’s father, as a childhood dream of a future mug.

Sabotage Use by Weavers Stirs Paterson Hearing
Edward Zurcher of the Paterson I W W testified at a federal hearing that sabotage had occurred in silk mills including dropping tools and emery dust in loom bearings. He declined to say if strikers would justify blowing up a mill. He cited wage declines from $25-$30 to about $15-$10 per week and noted higher fines and poorer product quality. Prosecutor Dunn’s claim that I W W members tried to wreck Erie trains was contradicted by Zurcher who blamed mill owners’ detectives for staging sabotage. James Starr of Textile Workers of America blamed foreign workers for much of the strife, saying organizing to fix conditions meant quitting work.
