Peculiar Soda Water Tank Blast Kills Man in Asbury Park
David Katz, 33, was killed instantly when a soda water tank exploded at 914 Springwood Avenue Asbury Park. Israel Rosenkvitz, nearby with bottles, escaped with a skull base bruise as debris crushed the room and ceiling. The blast damaged the floor, laid bare a table Morris Popock had prepared for dinner, and created a one and a half foot hole in the tank site. Katz had long worked in the business and had just negotiated for a purchase of the Montclair Mineral Water Works. The cause remains unknown as Rosenkvitz, lacking English, could not fully explain to police. Red Bank Y M C A tennis challenge competition noted next.
