At Fort Hacock Sandy Hook the 137th Company of Coast Artillery fired 18 rounds from a 34nc rapid firing rifle at a towed government steamship target and scored 18 hits. Public tennis courts on Grassmere Avenue Interlaken opposite the aviation grounds were opened by the Stormfeltz Lovely Neville Company. Narrow Escape In Broad Way Stage Runaway
An aging woman Mrs William Lane of Oakhurst and her eight year old granddaughter Elizabeth Wright barely escaped serious injury when a stage horse ran away in Broad Way. The child fell head first onto asphalt injuring arms. Mrs Lane was thrown into a mud puddle but recovered after a brief rest. The driver fled before identification.

The Red Bank Fire Department’s Firemen Exempt Association met Friday night at the Navesink Hook and Ladder house. Officers were elected and the secretary’s salary fixed at twenty dollars with ten percent of back dues. A brutal court case involved Charles Pierce abusing his nine year old son Norman, using a chain and lead weight for three days. The boy testified sparingly. the judge scheduled custody to the Children’s Home Society and postponed further action to next Saturday.

Distant Horse Show Entries Still Coming
For the eighteenth consecutive year Charles Smith of the Monmouth County Horse Show Association began active horse show work yesterday. Entries closed with Secretary P. J. Casey at midnight Saturday with all mailed entries to be tabulated. The show will be four days, not five, with fifty nine classes and over $7,000 in prizes. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt was expected to exhibit but is abroad. he contributed a $100 prize in the hunters’ class. Boxes were sold privately this year, raising receipts above last year’s.

Miss Sara Fay Hurt At Coney Island In Skinned Arm Incident
Miss Sara EB Fay of Red Bank spent last week with relatives in New York and visited Coney Island with her cousin Miss Mildred Smith.
