Assault at Third Avenue Shoe Shop Draws Crowd

Sam Schehel, running a shoe repair shop on Third avenue, was assaulted at work between 9 and 10 last night by Reuben Rosky, a discharged employee. Patrolman Vetter stopped the attack and Rosky was arrested. Swibel suffered facial wounds from a heavy blow and bleeding, with the attacker said to have just returned from New York seeking to confront his former employer.

Fiorella VanCleaf Rites Mark Funeral at Lake Como Residence

A large circle of friends from Lake Como Orange Somerville and surrounding towns attended the funeral of Mrs Fiorella VanCleaf wife of Gilbert VanCleaf Tuesday night. Services at 2 pm at the late residence 226 Hamilton Avenue were led by Rev Walter Dunn of the Lake Como M E Church with Adah Chapter 5 Order of the Eastern Star in charge. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery with pallbearers all Masons and floral tributes including a piece honoring Fiorella. Mrs VanCleaf active with the Monmouth Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was greatly missed by her colleagues and family.

Hotel Gordon Fight Leads Cox to Recorder’s Court

Benjamin Cox appeared in Recorder’s Court on a charge of assault and battery brought by Leo Emrich after a dispute at Hotel Gordon. Emrich says Cox grabbed his throat and threw him to the sidewalk. Cox testifies he only moved to disengage. Cox is held on $100 bond awaiting grand jury action.

Diving Venuses to Ed Babes Hospital Sea Bright Event

Managers of the Babies Hospital at Oceanic arrange a monster entertainment at the Sea Bright Beach Club on July 17. Mrs Mintern and Mrs Durant perform fancy dances on the ballroom floor.
