Diving accident at Keyport leaves youth paralyzed
William Burlew, 19, son of Mrs. John McConnell, dove from a spring board near Gross pavilion in Keyport. He struck water shallowly, was rescued, and rushed to Monmouth Memorial Hospital where doctors say a fractured spine has left him paralyzed from the arms down. Two companions assisted in rescue as physicians called to treat him. The incident follows a period of diving practice with friends observing.

Auto Hits Boardwalk Pole in Ocean Avenue Crash
A car driven by Mrs. Jacoby struck an ornamental pole and lamp on the boardwalk about 11 46 this morning. The pole was broken and the light shattered while the car sustained only paint scratches. the driver and chauffeur assisted, and Mrs. Jacoby later left in another car. A separate note reports Benjamin Hopper of Jersey City fading from heart failure while aboard Mr. Clark’s boat and being taken home for medical treatment. Military Circus and Wild West Show at Polo Grounds for Babies Hospital
Spectators filled the Polo Grounds on Rumson road for a Military Circus and Wild West show by Troop A First Cavalry National Guard of New York to aid Oceanic Babies Hospital. A stage coach toppled but no injuries occurred. receipts reached about five thousand dollars. Performers included J Whitey Baker and many others with feats of jumping roping and chariot races. A mail coach rescue by Joop and cowboys framed the narrative amid Indians and pursuit. An eighteen passenger touring car by A L Ball was planned to operate between Long Branch Rumson road and Lakewood, starting next week.

Ocean County Man Perrine Dies in Red Bank Visit
Henry Allen Perrine of Barnegat Ocean County died at his daughter Mrs Amy F Hennett’s Red Bank home from a complication of diseases after arriving four weeks earlier for a visit. He was 58, survived by his widow two daughters and two sons, with funeral plans in Red Bank and Barnegat and burial in Barnegat cemetery. His life included sailing and Life Saving Service service at Harvey Cedars before retirement.

A four point dog show at Long Branch, held at the horse show grounds, promises to eclipse records with many new exhibitors. Entries closed Monday night with Secretary Wilbur H. Puree. Country Guy led early but O Connors late surge sealed victory by a neck with Helder third and Danny Welskopf far behind.
