The 24 000 Red Cross Seals sent to Long Branch yielded 196.57 dollars in funds from sales by women, shopkeepers, banks and others to fight tuberculosis at home. National Association kept 15 percent. the rest returned to Long Branch. Mrs. Christopher Gregory led the effort with help from a dedicated group. 2 310 of the extra 4 000 were sold before the balance was destroyed.

Motorcyclist Found Alone In Roadway
Irving Maxson an eighteen year old from Port Monmouth rode a seven horsepower motorcycle to Belford when he left home and crashed after possibly hitting a rat. He lay unconscious with a head injury and concussion, was rushed to Monmouth Memorial Hospital, and his condition improved by noon. He was alone at the time and says only he can explain the crash. Samuel Tosen, arrested for disturbing the peace in North Broadway by playing scat after a warning, was discharged with a reprimand after time in Cu y Hall.

First Auto Hearse Funeral in City
The funeral of Vincent Van Dyke West, who died at his son Joseph West’s Newark home, was held in this city at 2 pm in the home of Mrs Henry Irwin. An auto hearse picked up the party, skidding near the city gates before reaching Newark. Rev. Briggs Nash officiated. Interment followed at West Long Branch. This marked the first use of an automotive hearse in the city.
