Fire damages West End Hotel at Asbury Park
A 40,000 fire at the West End Hotel in Asbury Park early morning largely wrecked the upper story after a defective flue ignition. Fire crews from Asbury Park and neighboring towns contained the blaze, saving Ocean Hotel nearby and injuring no one except a pneumonia patient moved to safety.

Meyer Wins Suit to Recover Lots in South Elberon
Vice Chancellor Garrison ruled in favor of Theodore A. Meyer in a long-running dispute with Axel L. Carlson over possession of certain lots and buildings at South Elberon. The case traces to a 1905 lease. Carlson allegedly paid no rent for a year, and Meyer sought title. The court dismissed Carlson’s later reform bill, finding Carlson obligated to erect buildings while Meyer showed $3,500 spent on materials.

Active work continues on the new West Side road in Sea Bright Borough under the Board of Chosen Freeholders. The 33 foot wide, 2,700 foot long thoroughfare will open in about two weeks, eliminating two deadly crossings and featuring public ceremonies at the opening. Seven Years State Prison Sentence For Oakhurst Burglar
Jacob Zebra, the Oakhurst burglar captured at the T. T. Kinney cottage, was sentenced to seven years in State prison after pleading guilty to three indictments including robbery at Edward Armstrong's Shrewsbury home and carrying weapons. Other local cases included parole for a Port au-Peck pipe thief, reforms for a boy accused of throwing stones, and various sentences for incorrigibility, theft, and assault with provisions for probation or reform school confinement.

The fifth annual Iroquois Social Club ball and reception at Townley Hall drew large crowds with ample accommodation. Funeral for Hjalmer Johnson at Glenwood Cemetery
Hjalmer Johnson died at Sea Bright after a short illness. He will be buried Sunday with services at the M E Church at 1 o clock. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. The Ladies Aid of the First Baptist Church will hold a clam chowder supper Friday evening January 27, with supper priced at 20 cents.

Colonial Five to Play Lyceum in Local Fixture
