David H. Riddle, a Red Bank real estate operator with offices in Belmar and Asbury Park, was found guilty by a Freehold jury of securing Mrs Martha P Moore of Asbury Park to three deeds for her Spring Lake property and arranging for another woman to impersonate Moore for acknowledgments by James B Housel. The verdict after a short deliberation leads to a sentence arraignment next Thursday. Moore, widow of Rev S B Moore, is 70 and says she signed deeds under pressure and that the impersonator stood in for her during acknowledgments.

January jury panel shortened by four men
The January petit jury panel was reduced by four when four members were excused after counsel complained names did not match those originally drawn. Judge Foster ruled the clerical error voided those jurors for the term and ordered the sheriff to summon the correctly drawn panel. Excused were Joseph Ivens, Thomas Martin of Upper Freehold and Edward Campion, William Hoge of Asbury Park.

Johnson matriarch of Red Bank dies after stroke
Mrs. Sarah Ann Johnson aged about 80 wife of the late George Washington Johnson of Red Bank died Wednesday evening at her daughter Mrs. Alvin Van Pelt's home after a six week paralysis. She mothered sixteen children with only four living including Taylor W Johnson Horatio Johnson and Mrs. Matilda Rogers. Surviving siblings and 35 grandchildren 86 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral at Mrs. Van Pelt's home Saturday at 2 pm Rev. Robert MacKellar to officiate. interment Fair View cemetery Middletown. Born Bayville Ocean County moved to Red Bank fifty years ago. She had good health until six weeks ago.

Members of the Long Branch Exempt Firemen's Association held a smoker in Library Hall with invitations extended to fire department members and ex exempt certificate holders not yet affiliated. Principal speaker Benjamin P Morris discussed the association's laws and benefits, while entertainment by Closes of Brooklyn drew laughs. Refreshments were plentiful, cigars available, and the event aims to boost membership ahead of the State convention in May.
