Henry Quest of Highlands survived after a boating accident near the Shrewsbury river mouth. An orphan boy from New York named Errickell drowned when the overloaded boat sunk. Gill Layton rescued Quest. both were drawn to Life Saving Station No. 2 at Sparnacetti Cove where Capt. Joel R. Woolley treated Quest. The body of Errickton was not recovered.

Bowler Residence Destroyed By Night Fire At Green Grove
Charles Lee Bowler's country home at Green Grove burned last night causing substantial loss. The Intwood Farm house and furniture, valued at about 25000 dollars, were destroyed though insurance is reported. Neighbors formed a bucket brigade but the structure fell to the flames as laborers attempted to salvage belongings. Bowler, a former Monmouth Beach resident, wintered in New York and raises poultry at Green Grove.
