Ex Convict Caught Here Linked to Forgery Ring
William Carter, a recently pardoned but recurrent forger using aliases, was arrested after cashing forged checks in Red Bank and Asbury Park. Boy Dies of Typhoid Pneumonia in Atlantic Highlands

A group of business men met at Wellington Lamonte's office in the Hughes block last night to revive the Y M C A. Harry P. Bennett was named chairman and Harry Truax secretary. They blamed lack of leadership and headquarters as the main failures and set an adjourned meeting for Saturday to review committee reports and take action. The organizing committees named covered funds and headquarters with Lamonte and Garrett guiding the work. The Hatemtown Township committee also held its first regular year meeting electing S. B. stems treasurer and H. W. Strems health inspector. A note selling good old stock at the Liberty Hotel was also mentioned.

At dawn three suspected colored men attempted to steal a cash register from Benjamin C. Crate on Westrow Street. Mrs. Edward Conners awoke, warned them she would shoot, and the thief fled dropping the register. Only $3 remained inside. Earlier, Rowley’s grocery showed breakage and other items were stolen.
