Three Shots Fired In City Chinaman Altercation
Chong Sam, a Broadway laundry operator, shot Charley Wing during a dispute over a key. Wing was wounded in the arm and hip after three bullets entered the store and window. Sam surrendered, was held at City Hall, and later kept as a witness. Wing is recovering. Also: Miss Sadie Fischer to wed Sol Lawn next month in New York.

Head Cut in Fall Hurts James H Houlihan at Bath
James H Houlihan justice of the peace residing on Second avenue near Bath was injured while walking to mass at St Michael Church Takanassee Lake. He sustained a bad scalp wound requiring four or five stitches after a fall against a Darby fence while fainting. He was confined to bed, slowly improving, with memory gaps from the incident. Oxsear Morris was found frozen to death near Nut Swamp last Friday, possibly from a fits and exposure. coroner Sicklé issued a burial permit.

Long Branch Masons Celebrate 13th Anniversary Reception
Long Branch Council No. 246 of the United Ancient Free Masons marked its thirteenth anniversary with a well attended reception at Odd Fellows Hall. State and deputy officials attended, a program featured music and addresses, and a late banquet followed as the group grows from 29 charter members to 179 with several new applications. The council provides weekly sick benefit and $500 at death.

The Long Branch Auxiliary No 1 of Monmouth Memorial Hospital held its annual meeting at the Nurses' Home with 22 members and visiting nurses. Dr George H Baker attended and was warmly welcomed. The group donated 100 to the Nurses' Home expansion fund and pledged 1000 toward the 24 additional rooms. Officers elected include President Mrs C H Irwin and Vice Presidents Mrs Edward L Reynolds and Mrs A B Brout, Treasurer Mrs William H Black, Secretary Mrs Joseph Young. The afternoon included social time and refreshments.

At a Board of Trade meeting plans were discussed to display a Long Branch exhibit at the Sportsmen Show. The Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club and Walter Content would loan the Clarel yacht, fastest in the world, for free display. An ice yacht space was secured, with an electric sign donation offered. Publicity director Bobbitt reserved space at Madison Square Garden, estimating $600 plus about $6,500 for literature. A committee was formed to raise funds for a credible exhibit. Lorene Cottage in Gerard Avenue closed. residents relocate to New York.
