Ice Yachting Season Opens on Shrewsbury River
The ice-yachting season begins on the Shrewsbury River with a four and a half inch ice sheet. The Long Branch Ice Boat and Yacht Club sets the commodore's cup race for Monday at two o'clock on the Shallow Point course. The South Shrewsbury Club plans an active week to map the season, with numerous pennants cups and trophies up for grabs including the Board of Trade cup. Officers are elected for both clubs and rosters will grow in the coming weeks.

Alden Lecture Pleases Audience in City Lyceum
Hon. George G. Alden delivered the fourth number of the Popular Course on The Needs of the Hour last evening in the Lyceum. Despite cold weather reducing attendance, the judge offered a moving, analytical talk on four periods in U S history and urged a return to gold era religious duties and family life. The High School Orchestra, directed by Miss B Louise Bruske, provided upbeat music before and after the address.

Rumson Borough Council names officers and committees
At a Rumson Borough Council meeting last night officers were elected and committees confirmed. New Borough Clerk Daniel A. Naughton succeeds his brother Henry Naughton while William Pintard becomes Borough Counsel and Samuel Bril Overseer of the Poor among other appointments. Monmouth Dentists Hold Banquet and Lecture
The January meeting of the Monmouth County Dental Society drew fourteen members to the Imperial Hotel for a banquet and a stereopticon lecture on Pyorrhea by Dr. S. W. Spies of New York.
