Post Office Introduces Panama Stamps at Long Branch
Panama-Pacific stamps issued in one, two, five and ten cent denominations are now on sale at the Long Branch post office. The four designs depict Balboa, Gatun Locks, Golden Gate, and the Discovery of San Francisco Bay, with sizes about ¾ by 11/16 inches and labeled U S Postage San Francisco 1915. Only the two cent stamp is reported unavailable locally.

Edmund D Slocum age 77 of Headden's Corner Middletown township died after a week long illness from pneumonia. He lived with his daughter Mrs Helen R Simpson and previously carried mail between Red Bank and Lincroft. Survived by four children, funeral Monday at two from his residence with Rev Horace R Goodchild officiating. Burial at Fair View cemetery.

Mr Soffel formerly with Pittsburg National League now employed by C I Dietz & Son Red Bank butchers.

He and his wife enjoyed a delightful trip and returned healthful. Dead in Luckenbach wreck report from Norfolk
Wireless reports place 23 men and one woman among the Luckenbach crew of thirty three dead after high seas swamped lifeboats. Seven men and the first officer clung to wreckage until rescue, as the tug Rescue searches for more bodies and to aid the Indrakulka beached after ramming the Luckenbach. Survivors expected to reach port this afternoon. Julia Luckenbach steamer crew mostly drowned after collision with Indrakulka off Tangier Island.

The Amerika Runs Aground In New York Bay
The big liner Amerika, outbound to Hamburg, ran aground in the upper bay near Tompkinsville. The vessel settled in soft sands but was not in danger andt a quick refloat was expected at the next high tide. The bow struck while bowing through high winds and strong currents after departing Hoboken at 8 o'clock. The captain notified Maas officials by wireless and said no danger to the vessel.

Wind storm disrupts alarm system and damages property
Severe winds toppled poles along Abbottford Avenue and Takangsséeke shows, knocking out the Elberon circuit and damaging fire alarm equipment. Fire crews worked from the Independent fire house as hand ringing and temporary connections kept alerts active. Shutters torn, trees uprooted, and scattered debris reported across Liberty Street and Red Bank trolley lines.

River Club Makes 70-Pound Mince Pie for New Year
The Woodcraft and River Club of Red Bank, about fifteen boys, hosted a New Year’s Eve gathering at their Bank Street clubhouse with guests including teachers Miss Florence Brand Miss Mary Brand Miss Louise DeForest Greenawalt Miss Nellie Wilbur Granville Flagler and John H. Cook. They served a giant mince pie measured 34½ feet long 2 feet wide and 2 inches deep weighing over 10 pounds. The feast continued into New Year’s Day with leftovers shared among the boys for future enjoyment.
