In New York 55 000 firemen vote 92 percent in favor of a strike if eastern railroads do not accept arbitration under the Erdman Act. Official results due Tuesday as President Carter of the Firemen's Brotherhood arrives to announce the outcome at an executive committee meeting.
Rev Dr George C Maddock a longtime New Jersey M B Conference minister and state prison chaplain died during a visit with his son at 141 Halsey street Brooklyn after two months of illness with pneumonia. He was 83 and had served many Monmouth county pastorates including Centenary Church now St Luke's and led prison reform work.

A jury awarded $300 to Mrs. Annie Smith and $100 to her husband from the Atlantic Coast Electric Railway Company for injuries after she fell from a trolley at Spring Lake on July 31, 1910. The program featured solos by Eleanor Hedenberg Mildred Armstrong and a duet by Mrs Jophia Clayton and Miss Josephine Weeks. A greenhouse on the W. Campbell Clark estate at Oakhurst was largely wrecked by a fire shortly after seven. Loss estimated at 2000 dollars. Elberon and Deal fire companies responded with Deal debuting its new automobile engine. Firemen limited spread. chief Benjamin Birkenfeld led Deal crew. Superintendent John Comber said supper interrupted routine. blaze found at 7 15. Origin undetermined though chimney heater suspected. Building about 35 feet long.
A Greek boy kicked a blazing kerosene can from a shoe shop rear onto Broadway near Second Avenue during a stove fire. Ten fire units and six companies responded before the boy pushed the can into the street and the flames ended. Officials consider tighter alarm regulations after the costly false alarm.
Friends report Commissioner John W. Flock is resting more comfortably, confined to bed with chest and back injuries after an Eaton town boulevard crash.
