Young ladies plan first annual reception at Lyric Theatre

The 500 club of Atlantic Highlands announces its first annual reception and dance at the Lyric Theatre with a metropolitan orchestra, decorated interiors, and catered refreshments. Stevens Chosen as New State Road Commissioner

Governor Wilson selects Col Edwin A Stevens of Hoboken as State Road Commissioner to replace Col Frederick Gilkyson. Stevens, a noted engineer from the Stevens family, will take the role for a three year term with a $5000 salary and $4000 for clerk hire. He will resign current posts to devote full time to the department. The appointment awaits Senate confirmation.

Twenty lines describe Joseph Conover gaining a writ of eviction from Justice Edward W. Wise affecting fourteen families in a Red Bank settlement known as the Pit. Conover aims to remove arrears tenants despite some pleas for mercy as the rest face a 30 day notice. Richard Weeves, whose buildings were damaged by fire at Tinton Falls weeks ago, writes a letter to the Eatontown fire department thanking them for saving property. The letter is appreciated and will become part of the fire department records.

Charity Ball Plans for Twenty Annual Event

The Monmouth Memorial Hospital Auxiliary No 3 met at the Nurses Home amid bad weather with a small turnout. They will finalize plans for the twentieth annual charity ball to be held February 21 at Mrs. G Henry Irwins home next Saturday afternoon. Tickets are selling rapidly and a large midwinter gathering is expected.

Monday night storm wreaked havoc on the pound fishing industry. Nets torn and rendered useless while poles remain standing, as crews brace to restore gear. Capt. State Boulevard road control shifts to Monmouth Freeholders

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders approved transferring control of a coast road segment between Atlantic Highlands and Highlands to county authorities. The move unlocks a $10 000 state appropriation and signals work toward building New Jersey coast highway. Five were baptised at the First Baptist Church Red Bank on Sunday night. Rev Dr Matteson pastor delivered a splendid sermon and Miss Christine Hook sang a sweet solo. Melrose Athletic Association Forms Strong Highlands Team

Highlands forms the Melrose Athletic Association to foster multiple sports with a new basketball program. The senior squad, featuring B. Hennessey and H. Hunter, beat St. James' Red Bank 24 to 8 while the junior squad won 22 to 4. losses include Sandy Hook 14 to 4 and a 7 to 4 setback against Atlantic Highlands.
