A coastal campaign organized Saturday by representatives from Long Branch to Atlantic Highlands aims to secure a $166,000 state appropriation to buy right of way for an inland waterway from South Carolina to Maine. Pier modification eyed for Long Branch project plan
Lawyer Thomas Po Fay and Samuel R Rosoff attended the City Council meeting to push an ordinance changing pier specifications from 150 feet wide to 75 feet for the Long Branch Pier and Land project now partly erected. Rosoff showed a drawing and a contract with a Venetian band for two daily concerts. If adopted, the plan would let the contractor complete the pier at its present width with work progressing toward an early completion. Favorable comment noted as the contractor advances and boats likely to run next summer. Caught 1400 hard crabs. Joseph Williams of Port Monmouth dredging for clams in Sandy Hook Bay Friday collected over 1,400 hard crabs, sold at Red Bank for 25 cents a dozen.

L W Berry of the New York and Long Branch Railroad notified the city it can obtain a right of way over railroad property to lay a 12 inch main from Chelsea avenue to the brook to relieve surface water overflow at the corner of Pourti and Chelsea avenues. The railroad submitted an agreement revocable on sixty days notice to be executed by the city. Chelsea avenue residents have long sought a solution to the standing surface water problem.

Clams Stolen From Port Monmouth Dealer
William Dennis of Port Monmouth reports the loss of about 150 bushels of hart clams from his storage beds during last week. The theft occurred while he was away, leaving an estimated $300 loss. Townspeople and nearby farmers reportedly took advantage of low water to clamming near the beds.
