Runaway Horse Flees Through Broadway After Car Near City Hall
A frightened horse bolted after sight of an automobile near City Hall, dragging a driver who escaped injury. The animal caused chaos on Broadway, narrowly missing collisions as stage drivers joined the chase. Lead Pipe Thefts Hit Four Cottages In Cottage Place
Four cottages in Cottage Place were broken into during winter by thieves who cut an exposed lead pipe from wash tubs and prepared to move other items. Police were alerted last Sunday and Detective Gene Walling led an immediate investigation. Live Wire Fatality at Asbury Park Crossing
A flagman named Dominick at the New York and Long Branch Railroad crossing in Asbury Park was electrocuted at 5 30 a m after a live wire fell across the sidewalk. He touched the wire and died before help arrived as sparks shot from his shoes. Coroner Purdy investigated the deadly incident and residents note the same wire had broken a week earlier, causing a pole fire and property damage threat.

A Freehold grand jury handed up forty additional indictments to Judge Foster and a general jail delivery occurred. Red Bank Resident John Smock Dies At 47
John Smock well known Red Bank resident died early Tuesday morning from bronchitis at age 47. Funeral services from H. C. Hubbard’s residence on Branch Avenue Saturday at 2:30 p.m., Robert Mount & Son funeral directors. Survived by sister Mrs. Anna B. Hubbard and his home with Hubbard family. He worked in Taylor Smock’s Broad and Mechanic streets store and later for the Red Bank Prudential Insurance Company. Local obituaries note his long ties to Red Bank.
