London December 24 German aviators dropped a bomb on Dover but caused little damage and escaped in fog after an earlier cross from Belgium. The bomb struck near Dover Castle garden wounding a few windows and ploughing gardens. Berlin announced that Mława in northern Poland had fallen after days of fighting, with German forces pushing beyond the East Prussian frontier.

Albert M. Whiteford, longtime chief clerk for the New Jersey Southern branch, is promoted to trainmaster of the Lehigh and Susquehanna Division with headquarters in Mauch Chunk, Penn.
