In Toms River on December 21, 11 year old Myles Michaels told Sheriff Brown he and a friend were sunning for chicken hawks with his father's shotgun. The gun discharged accidentally when Celia Michaels, age 4, pulled it from a wagon, tearing her left lung. Myles walked twenty miles to the sheriff and was returned home after officials provided a new outfit. Celia was the daughter of Amog Michaels who farms at Manahawkin.

An elaborate Christmas program filled Simpson Memorial Church for both services. Rev. Dr. William S. Panic in subway from slight blaze

Two train loads of passengers were thrown into a panic at the Twenty third street station after a short circuit caused smoke in the subway. Firemen quickly quenched the blaze and a man was cut by glass amid a mass exit.
