McCarthy Dies After Funeral Seizure In Allenhurst

Dennis McCarthy known as Dean and longtime Allenhurst resident dies at 806 Hume Street from stomach trouble after a seizure at Patrick Kelly’s funeral in Holmdel. He left a wife Margaret and three children, brothers and a sister, was a firefighter organizer and Elks member. Funeral at St Marys Deal with Knights of Columbus and Red Men attendees.

Man Hurt in Fall From Window at Gas Plant

Galen a Brook Street worker for thirteen years at the gas plant fell eight feet while trying to remove a lid from a generator. He landed backward, breaking his right wrist with bone protruding from the left arm, plus a fractured rib and head injuries. He was taken to Monmouth Memorial Hospital where he remained conscious and walked into the building. He survived the ordeal despite severe injuries and a cake sale note for St. James Sunday School.

Young Man Held On Serious Charge In Red Bank

George Lang a well known western Red Bank youth employed by grocer Edward Haley was arrested on a statutory charge preferred by Katherine McQuairk who had worked for Haley. Lang pled guilty at hearing before Justice Sickles and is held on 500 bail with bonds posted. The case drew a large crowd. Also, three year old J Bertram Conover of Shrewsbury Avenue Red Bank is ill with whooping cough under Dr. H B Garrison care.

Former City Chamberlain Hyde Sentenced to 2 years 6 months in Sing Sing

Justice Golf in the Supreme Court sentenced former City Chamberlain Charles H Hyde to not less than two years and not more than three years six months in Sing Sing prison for extorting a bribe from the Northern Bank for the benefit of the Carnegie Trust Company. He was freed on $25,000 bail pending appeal.
