A report states inmate Boss Kuernle number 2672 is to serve one year at hard labor in the state prison. He pledges to obey all prison rules and desires to be left in quiet at the institution.
Trenton N J December 10 Commodore Louis Kueblne former Atlantic City political boss and longtime New Jersey Republican figure began a one year sentence at hard labor. He arrived by car with Sheriff Ingersoll and Chas Fortner at 10 10 am the iron door closed behind him. He is assigned number 2872 and will spend two weeks in quarantine before further custody.
Edward Williams of Harmony near Middletown fractured three ribs after a porch fall. Frank Murphy, formerly of Port Monmouth and brother-in-law to local residents, is hospitalized in Tampa after an overhead bridge accident injuring his right arm. Polish farmhand Tony Basilevsky, employed by James C Hendrickson, had a crushed foot when his cart overturned. Tony was freed with help from Victor Paideskyra after being trapped and will be unable to work for days. Also notices include local theater ads and a small classifieds section.
In Elks Lodge rooms Red Bank wins two more balls to extend its lead in the pocket billiard tournament against Asbury Park and Long Branch. McIntyre and Harrison of Asbury Park defeated McGee and Matthews of Red Bank as the match moved to 100 point games with aggregate balls determining the winner.
Dr Myron T Scudder of New York told about open schools and playgrounds at the New Jersey Sanitary Association meeting in Lakewood. He predicted ministers may soon wear no vestments and umpire Sunday games. Elected officers include Betts Potts McLaughlin Kendall Olcott Guoth and the next annual meeting will be held here.
The Federation of Churches of Monmouth County postponed yesterday afternoon's meeting in Rev. Dr. J. W. Rogan’s body at the Red Bank Weisner building. No session occurred and future meetings are delayed until after Christmas. A new German social organization named Freiheit forms in town with Herrmann Stein as secretary, collecting member names.
Bertha Morris a nine year old of Seventh avenue suffered severe burns after her clothing caught fire from a gas stove. Neighbors and her mother aided, she remained at home with care but faces possible pneumonia risk from a cold bath and burn treatment. A separate stove accident at another home caused minor damage. A further note reports Verna Wickford and Harry Hulse wed at the First Baptist Church with parental consent needed.
The Oceanic Fire Company plans a minstrel performance at Broadway Theatre on February 11 directed by Chester A. Arthur with weekly rehearsals. A piano will be placed on the second floor for visitors and the stay-at-homes are invited to attend next Tuesday night to see the burnt cork acts.
The New York and New Jersey Baseball League will include eight clubs in 1914 with Perth Amboy and Patterson joining. Perth Amboy will have local financial backing and the mayor as president. Long Branch promises its biggest season yet with five new players, including pitchers Munoz and Parez, boosting strength by 50 percent. Major league games will be scheduled and the Giants will visit Long Branch in April.
John Short a West Long Branch carriage maker will wed Miss Ella Sclour at Tomkinsville on August 1 at seven in the evening. Immediate relatives and close friends will witness the ceremony. Afterward the couple will honeymoon briefly then settle in a newly furnished house owned by the groom in West Long Branch. Short recently succeeded James Pritchard at Antonides carriage works and has built a large local business.

A reward of 1000 dollars was offered for the safe return of Miss Jessie McCann or for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance. Police boats patrolled the sea wall at Janey Island and Sheepshead Bay as a foul play theory lingered. Another line suggested she might have fallen victim to white slavers.
A burglar was discovered by maid Sarah Jackson as he climbed through a rear window at Dr William Sayre s Maple avenue Red Bank home around 415 this morning He fled fourteen feet to the ground and escaped over a rear fence The thief described as a foreigner in gray clothes and a black overcoat Also notes a gold watch found near the fence and a revolver that failed to fire Sayre plans to give the watch to the maid as a souvenir Police checked doctors offices for injuries and reported no cases The patient Samuel Hayden Sr at Monmouth Memorial Hospital remained dazed but improving and not recognizing people.
Two month old Julian Smith son of William Howard Smith of Belford died yesterday from valvular heart trouble. Harry C. Fay coroner granted burial permit. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
In Christiana Norway on December 10 1912 two Nobel peace prizes were awarded to United States Senator Elihu Root of New York and to Senator La Fontaine of the Belgian Parliament.
A collision at Atlantic avenue and Liberty street last evening at six injured Miss Lillian Charters and driver Edward Jones. Jones was en route to Central Station with Congressman and Mrs. Thos. G. Patten and Charters. An auto from Pleasure Bay, driven likely by H. H. Clements of New York, ran a wide turn and struck the closed carriage, demolishing it. Jones was thrown, cutting Charters on the leg. The auto sped away after briefly checking on injuries. Jones plans legal action for damages.
Secretary of State William J. Bryan spoke today at 3.80 o'clock in the Metropol itan building New York before the Federation of Churches of New York. Rev. Dr. J. W. Rogan attended. His address covered the theme Fundamentals.
The funeral of lawyer W. B. Parker will be held tomorrow from his Broadway home and the First Reformed Church. Services at the house begin 9:30 and at the church 10:30 with multiple pastors and a quartet. Progress Council and local associations attend. Greenlawn Cemetery burial under John G. Sexton.
John Peters of Shrewsbury was arrested Monday by Constable Wilson on a gun license charge. A hearing before Recorder Badeau in Red Bank resulted in a £20 fine, paid. Peters, an experienced gunner, had not bothered to license this year while gunning near Aaron Armstrong's farm. Ellen Court, the Sacks' summer home on Norwood Avenue, was ransacked with no valuables taken. Tonight, Wilbur Gardner and others are advertised for a separate event and business notices appear for a cabaret and Christmas fund checks.
City officials consider appealing to the State Utility Commission to address paving between trolley tracks with brick to protect recently laid pavement. Real estate men seek publicity bureau and a $10,000 ad appropriation. A resolution to appeal was adopted by the Board of Commissioners.
The Freeholders on the regular monthly meeting awarded Oceans Construction Company of Red Bank the Marlboro Vanderberg Road bridge bid for 765 to be finished in 26 working days. Owen J. Melee bid 835 with 30 days. Mary E. Bennett granted mortgage land release in Wall Township. A petition, signed by Wad residents and Millstone and Manalapan committees, seeks county road status for Smithburg to Manalapan road. An ad notes Christmas fund donations and fire insurance inquiry.
