The Red Bank post office is completed and will be open for public inspection all day. The 20 by 11 foot office features a mosaic floor, a side foyer, and separate money handling by a high iron fenced area with individual stamp cases and a check system.
The Litter Silver volunteer fire company No 1 hosted a church hall entertainment with Thomas Dobson of New York performing jokes and songs plus local musicians Horsphal Hobby and Dennis. About $15 was cleared. Officers elected included Forman Ayres as president and F L Sherwood as treasurer. The company has fifty members and recently bought a gasoline engine. Also noted: Boer War veteran Frank Murphy of Port Monmouth has gone to Dayton Illinois to work for the Erie Railroad. his father Captain John Murphy was in the steamboat business on Raritan Bay. We, the jury, find that Marie Smith died at hands of unknown party. In Asbury Park coroner’s inquest, 23 of 33 witnesses testified. Marie’s body was found five days after she vanished near Whitesville road and Ridge avenue.
A long Branch memorial service for Long Branch Lodge No. 742 BPOE will be held at the Lyceum tomorrow at eight o'clock open to the public with a detailed program. Participants include Beethoven dirge a soprano soloist a Weinstock address and several selections by the lodge orchestra and quartet. Mount Olivet Baptist Church announces services conducted by the pastor tomorrow with a morning sermon at 10 45, Sunday School at 2 30 or 2 30 p m, and an evening sermon at 8 o'clock. All are welcome. Daniel D Hillyer of Middletown reports a valuable horse lost to a mysterious disease worth 3800 dollars.
Edward Oakes proprietor of the Columbus Hotel at Atlantic Highlands is enlarging the rear of the cafe with an 8 by 20 foot addition to house wash rooms and lavatories. The structure will be faced in stone with a tile floor. Estimated cost upon completion is about $500.
Frits Pentermann of New Monmouth travels to New Brunswick for the winter short course in agriculture at the State Scientific School with a horticulture focus. His father, Frete Pentermann, is a leading grower of orchard fruits in Monmouth County. Dennison's steel engraved cards offer Christmas gift dressings and garlands.
Red Bank plans unite several churches into a federation to engage more parishioners not tied to YM programs. Committees from First Baptist, First Presbyterian, Grace Methodist and First Methodist met to invite Rev Dr Hugh B McCauley of Trenton to lead and organize a federation with headquarters in Washington. They hope he can attend a meeting before the holiday season.
The Baptists won two of three against the First Methodists at Red Bank Y M A C alleys. The Baptists led early with 12 pins and 206 in game two, but the Methodists rallied to win narrowly as George Maneen tied the high 206 and set a new Baptist high score. The league cup, donated by the Long Branch Daily Record, will require three wins for permanent possession.
Counselor Carl M. Herbert of Manaquan and known in Atlant Highlands was taken to Flower Hospital New York City this week for an operation on an abscess in a leg. He fell ill last June and has been in bed for 26 weeks.

Sigmund T. Merirr, an elderly Long Branch pioneer and year-round resident, was injured yesterday morning at Branchport station while boarding the 9:30 train to New York. He fell after tripping on a rail, was temporarily able to travel to New York, but later suffered lasting effects and is feared seriously hurt.

George Hawkins of Oakhurst dies in Trenton State Hospital after a nervous breakdown sparked by an Allegheny work shock. Funeral held at South Elberon with burial at Glenwood cemetery. Six years prior, he married Josie Ashton. Also, William McGregor, a leading Long Branch expressman, dies of tuberculosis at 40 in Westwood Avenue home. He leaves a widow and daughter Mary. funeral at Church of Our Lady. Multiple obituaries mention McGregor family ties, business growth, and local lodge affiliations.
In Atlantic Highlands Borough Council chambers two truancy cases were heard. George Thompson of Navesink faced charges for keeping his son Robert out of school, with the officer noting multiple unexcused absences since September. Thompson claimed he needed his son at home to help with family work but agreed to ensure regular attendance. A second case against James Luker of Port Monmouth involved five children with limited school attendance. the matter was postponed to next Wednesday. The Adelphi Class of the First Baptist Sunday School was entertained at Howard Voorhees’ home in Seventh Avenue during its monthly meeting, featuring readings and a program.
