The fourth annual Monmouth County Agricultural Fair Association event in Red Bank features horse shows, dog shows, baby show, and racing. Governor Wilson attends Farmers Day, with bands, parades, and live stock displays planned through Labor Day.

Asbury Church Bazaar Net Reaches Six Hundred

The Asbury M. E Church bazaar proved a success with total receipts of 628.36. Children's booth net 121.00, fancy article and confectionary 101.75, other booths 82.00 to 39.55, ice cream 20.45, cake 8.50, and notable donations of 100, 102, 15, 10, and 28.11. Contributions from donors helped push the final tally above 600.

Flatbush Woman Dies at Monmouth Memorial Hospital

Jennie Earle, a patient at Monmouth Memorial Hospital, died this morning after coming from Flatbush Long Island. Hyer and Flock Funeral Directors are handling the remains and have notified daughter Mrs. G. E. Cornell of Brooklyn. another daughter, Mrs. John C. Van Cleaf, is in Cal sbad Germany with a cable sent today. The body will remain at the Hyer and Flock parlors until her daughter’s return.

Conover Leaves Middletown for Idaho Visit

William W. Conover a prominent Monmouth county farmer heads to Lewiston Idaho to spend weeks with his son Harvey G. Conover who runs apple growing business there He will miss the 14th Regiment New Jersey Volunteer reunion at Eatontown on September 9 where he once led Company G and saw over forty battles including Cold Harbor and Cedar Creek.

Belford May Get Steamboat Next Year

Belford may see a steamboat to New York next year after the old dock at Belford was bought by Hopping McHenry and Frost. Charles Bauer of New York is arranging with local farmers to freight produce and would place a boat if there is enough trade.

Warren H Smock Buys Red Bank Lot for Residence

Warren H Smock, a noted Red Bank lawyer from the firm Wilson & Smock, purchased a Broad street Bergen Place corner lot from the Samuel W Morford estate for 3000 to 4000 dollars. The 72 by 200 foot lot lies in Red Bank’s residential section, where he plans a handsome home for his own occupancy. Smock recently sold his Reckless Place property to William Tilton of Holmdel.

Dinner to Chef at West End Shore Club

Popular chef Fritz Hunziker was entertained at a dinner in his honor on his 27th birthday. The menu included consome vermicelli kingfish spring lamb roast chicken and cake. He plans to sail October 17 to visit family in Switzerland and his sister. A real estate contract for Lenison at Campbell's Junction was awarded to Mrs Edward Holzlander with William Kipp and J Henry Walling named for the build and mason work.

Second Rabies Victim Dies in Monmouth Hospital

Maurice Gruber a six year old from South Broadway dies at Monmouth Memorial Hospital after rabies symptoms progress rapidly from a dog bite. He is the second child in two weeks to die of the disease after Franklin Brown, seven, also contracted rabies from the same pet. The Gruber family, and neighbors, mourn the loss as Pasteur treatment continues for Samuel Gruber, the surviving brother, who shows no current signs of illness.

Old Home Week Planned in Red Bank October

The borough of Red Bank plans an Old Home Week in October spanning two to three days. Two canvassers report slow progress in raising funds while a local weekly will publish a special edition with borough history and business write ups. Moving pictures will run nightly at Ocean Park theater opposite the bandstand.

Paterson Rejects Commission Plan in Bitter Vote

In Paterson the municipal commission form was rejected 7984 to 4917 amid a hard fought campaign. Gov Wilson urged improvement while praising current leadership. East Rutherford also voted against the plan 206 to 174 with 443 of 700 registered voters casting ballots.

Narrow Escapes In Two Stage Accidents

Two separate stage incidents occurred last evening near Westwood Avenue and Center Street. An overturned Paper Hall stage on a wet street narrowly avoided collision with a freight engine, while driver Center Stadman failed to see a trolley, causing minor damage to the vehicle and minor injuries to passengers who continued on foot.
