Longtime Keyport official quits Brown estate after 38 years

Oscar F. Stanhope of Keyport resigns from the T. M. R. Brown estate where he served continuously for thirty eight years. Stanhope is a notable figure in military circles, having captained Company G of the Third Regiment, National Guard of New Jersey, in the eighties.

Port Monmouth Girl Confined by Disease Complication

Miss Helen Willett of Port Monmouth daughter of Mr and Mrs George H Willett is confined to bed with a complication of diseases. Early reports suggested typhoid fever but this was not the case. Dr O W Budlong of Belford is in attendance.

Captain Bauer in Critical Condition After Paralysis Attack

Captain Herman C. Bauer of Elizabeth and formerly Keyport is in critical condition after a paralysis strike. This marks his second attack. He commanded the Raritan Guards of Keyport during the Spanish American War, Company G, Third New Jersey Regiment. Florida visitors at Matawan and local students heading to state schools are noted.

Three Eatontown Girls Earn $500 At Local Fair

Hook and Ladder Company No 1 Eatontown held a fair that raised 510 dollars with the three girls leading in donations. Anna Roberts collected 101 dollars in subscriptions for five boys while Helen Miller delivered 111.56 dollars and Annette Kolich 37.51 dollars.

Seventy Dollar Carnival Prizes Awarded in Record List

Prizes donated to a doll carnival totaled near seventy items valued over 300 dollars and were distributed across divisions. Express, dolls in carriages and go carts, masquerades and floats awarded cups, gold pieces, bracelets, dolls, jewelry, and other prizes to numerous individuals and groups. Red Bank Yacht Club Holds Pretty Handicap Race

Four yachts from the Red Bank Yacht Club contested a pretty handicap race on the North Shrewsbury River Saturday afternoon for the monthly club cup. The Manabassett led on the water but finished second on corrected time, with the Dolphin third and May Win fourth as crowds waved from the floating clubhouse. The regatta committee chair George G. Gillig fired the start. A Labor Day race for the commodore's cup is slated for 10 AM Monday.

Oakhurst Plans Lively Labor Day Events and Races

Arrangements for the Oakhurst Labor Day sports are nearly complete with events starting at 1 30 pm at Elberom Council Hall. The Ushers Union of the M B Church will run ice cream and soft drinks as crowds are expected to swell. Entries close at 1 pm, a small admission charged, prizes on display at 1 pm, and music by the Oakhurst School Orchestra. Prizes include bicycles, clocks, medals, and other gifts across bike races, pole vaulting, high jump, and running events for boys and youths. The committee includes C J Strahan and H G VanNote among others, with notable figures such as Benjamin Scully, a famed blind checker, featured in prior appearances. Also noted is a White Ribbon meeting at the Presbyterian Church and local entertainment listings.

Fourth Red Bank Fair to Open With Record Features

The fourth annual Monmouth County Agricultural Fair begins Thursday and runs through September 4 in Red Bank. A nine-man party traveled by motor launch Pearl 5 to Sandy Hook on Sunday to gather beach plums.
