Oakhurst Harvest Home Preparations Under Way

The Ladies' Aid Society of Oakhurst M. E. Church prepares for the annual harvest home next Wednesday evening on church grounds. A record crowd is expected and the suppers are described as high quality. Prof C J Strahan and the school orchestra will provide music for the event.

Narrow escape in crossing crash near Branchport

Luke DeWitt narrowly escaped serious injury when a heavily loaded wagon of ashes for Consoli dated Gas Company stalled on railroad tracks. A 3.30 train struck the wagon broadside, debris flew, the wagon was destroyed, but DeWitt and his team escaped unharmed.

Inspector Houghton speaks at Rahway Reformatory visit

John H. Houghton, an inspector at Rahway Reformatory, addressed the midweek prayer meeting at St. Luke's M. E. Church last night. He is spending a short vacation in Long Branch and Asbury Park and was guest of H. P. Bennett of Washington Street.

Hospitalized Teenager Injured Loading Potatoes

William Fredericks a youth with a broken leg and an arm suffered a fall yesterday afternoon while loading potatoes at Mast Freehold. He leaped to catch a moving car, was struck, and tossed aside. He was taken to Monmouth Memorial Hospital for treatment and is awaiting transfer to Lone Branch. His parents visited at the hospital this morning.

Disorderly William Johnson Fined Five Dollars

William Johnson arrested by Patrolman Holwards for drunken and disorderly conduct. He was fined five dollars by Recorder Van Doren this morning.

President J L Kinmonth of the Asbury Park Press will preside at the midsummer meeting of the New Jersey Editorial Association at Price's Hotel tomorrow. Ex-Major Blair of Sea Bright Dies After Long Illness

Ex-Major Robert P. Blair of Sea Bright died at his Center street home after a lingering illness aged fifty eight. He served as mayor 1892 1893 and was renowned for bulkhead building and civic leadership. Survived by widow and four children. Funeral Monday at Blair home and Sea Bright Church with Masonic rites. Burial in Middletown.

Waiters and Soldiers Clash at Highlands Bar

Yesterday around 4 pm three Port Hancock soldiers clashed with six Creighton pavilion waiters at Highlands. A waiter named John Kinney sparked the dispute, leading to a brawl. All six men were jailed. Kinney was fined for disorderly conduct after a Justice’s hearing. others were discharged after six hours in the coop.

Marathon champions meet in charity field day at Hollywood Park

A three cornered match race between Swanberg Holmer and Queall highlights the first annual field day for charity at Hollywood Park tomorrow afternoon. The event includes quarter mile track dashes relays and gymkhana races with entrants from Monmouth County towns visitors at shore resorts and professional umbrella race for horse manship.

Shermans Sail Sept 13 Sail from San Francisco

R F D Exams Tomorrow for Rural Carriers

An examination for rural free delivery carriers will be held at City Hall tomorrow before the examining board. The current carrier H B Wolcott resigned and his brother filled the post until a new appointment. Eight candidates compete for the vacancy.
