Farmhand Struck and Killed by Lightning in Open Field
Nathaniel Hibbard, 32, a long time farmhand for George Thorne near Centreville between Hazlet and Keyport, was struck by lightning while tending a horse and died instantly. Coroner Harry C. Fay called the death a bolt injury. Survived by brothers and sisters in New York. funeral plans to be announced.

Harvest Home Supper Draws Crowd at Oceanport
The Oceanport Methodist church held its annual harvest home supper beside the schoolhouse arena. About 400 people were served hot fried chicken and sides under a large tent. Donations filled the church treasury as Oceanport and nearby guests enjoyed home cooking and entertainment from Rev. George T. Hillman and locals including Mrs. J Heilenman and Mrs. H B Edwards assisted by a long list of helpers. Ice cream sales accompanied the event.
