Seven year old dies after dog bite and rabies scare
The seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Frank Brown of Madison avenue died at Monmouth Memorial Hospital after rabies developed from a dog bite last June. Dr Joseph T Welch tried to save him with Pasteur Institute treatment but too late. He suffered severe hydrophobia and convulsions, ending in death. The case highlights dangers from stray dogs and cauterization as insufficient protection.

Begging Fakir Placed in Jail After Alms Claim Fail

Boy Held in $1500 On Arson Charge
John Gannon a 16 year old boy appeared before Recorder Arrowsmith at City Hall on a morning hearing. Detective Captain Walling testified as the defense entered a not guilty plea. Gannon confessed to applying a match to straw in stall No 2 of the Horse Show grounds on Sunday afternoon. He was taken into custody at the West End engine house and held in $1500 bail to await grand jury action. The fire damaged forty stalls, caused an estimated $3000 loss, and insurance covered the damage.

Miles of South Orange laid to rest in funeral
Francis Tiers Miles of South Orange died Saturday morning at Reservation Cottage No 2 after typhoid fever. Funeral services were held at the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows. Miles, a bachelor, lived with his sister Agnes Miles and had ties to New York clubs and the South Orange Field Club. He was born in Philadelphia forty years ago and graduated from Seton Hall College.
