Death by own action of John Nixon buried at Glenwood
Relatives of John Nixon attended funeral services at Morris chapel for the man found drowned off Sandy Hook last Saturday. Rev Morton A. Barnes officiated. interment was at Glenwood cemetery under Wm. H. Morris Jr. Nixon had just left New York on the Antier Line steamer Columbia August 8 and waved farewell to relatives on the dock before his body was found. He carried a draft for 200 dollars and gold in his pockets plus valuables and baggage on board.

Civil War veteran Sergeant Jacob Van Derveer Corlies died at 410 West 148th Street at age 68 from diabetes. Born February 20, 1846 in Long Branch, he served in the First New Jersey Cavalry from 1861 to 1864, then enlisted in the U S Infantry until 1866. Survived by wife, two sons Richard and Edward, two daughters Misa Mabel and Bertha Young, brother George of Asbury Park. Funeral at 8 p.m. at 410 West 148th Street with interment in Orange tomorrow.

Auto crash injures man. accomplice saved in Keyport incident
A badly injured man named Wilson was hit by a train near Keyport while a companion, J Rafferty, leapt free and escaped with minor bruises. Wilson suffered a fractured jaw, broken forearm, deep cuts, and extensive body injuries. The two were traveling from Keyport to Keansburg when the accident occurred just after five. An East Long hospital ambulance transported Wilson, and a New York visitor could not be identified. Authorities are not sure if crossing attempts caused the crash.
