Wright Flyers Seek New Records At Asbury Park Meet

The Wright flyers prepare for an Asbury Park aviation meet next Saturday night as they aim to reclaim the altitude and duration records. The new Wright machine with a single rear elevating plane is tested today if weather permits with Walter Brookins expected to fly after sustaining a battered nose and missing teeth from a previous crash. Lieutenant Frederick B. Humphries, a Wright pupil, influenced the design shift to sole use of the rear plane.

Lock Jaw Claim Claims Young Union Man

Eighteen year old George Johnson of Union near Keyport died last night from lockjaw at Monmouth Memorial Hospital. He fell from his wheel days earlier, injuring an elbow, and a physician later diagnosed tetanus. Johnson was moved to Keyport by funeral director John G. Sexton. Louis Van Nest moved from Red Bank to Shrewsbury and is employed by Charles Hurley.

Pennington Seminary Plans Ocean Grove Day Celebration

Alumni and friends of Pennington Seminary gather at Ocean Grove next Monday for Pennington Seminary Day with two public meetings at ten in the morning and seven thirty in the evening. Millionaire School Board Leads Middletown’s Reopened Schools

Middletown township public schools reopen on September 11 with a new permanent course of study in drawing music and manual and physical training. Board president Melvin A. Rice and members Robert Hartshorne and Lewis A. Thompson are noted as three millionaires on the board. Mrs. Susan T. Edwards Dies in Fiftieth Year

Mrs. Susan T. Edwards wife of Thelbert Edwards of 75 Washington Street died after a ten day illness at nine this morning. She leaves a daughter Mrs Edna V. George W. Avery was deposed as manager of the Monmouth Beach Inn and left town. D. H. Butts of the Monmouth Beach Clubhouse Company assumes management for the season.
